Edinburgh have been placed in Pool Two of the Heineken Cup for the 2008/2009 season where they will face English champions, London Wasps, Magners League champions, Leinster and French team Castres.
24 of Europe's finest teams will battle it out for the chance to play in the 14th Heineken Cup Final which will be played next year at Murrayfield on the weekend of 23/24th May 2009.
Edinburgh have only ever qualified for the knock-out stages of the competition on one occasion and the campaign begins on the weekend of 10/11/12 October - dates to be announced in July.
Glasgow on the other hand face Toulouse, Bath, Newport Gwent Dragons in Group 5.
With Edinburgh currently sitting in 28th place in the ERC European Rankings, 4 places behind their West Coast Cousins, a strong showing in this season's tournament will hopefully allow Andy Robinson's side to retain the bragging rights come next May of Scotland's Number 1.
